Mia Demonstrate statesmanship by endorsing UTM-MCP alliance
By Malawi Exclusive
Malawi Congress Party Vice President Mohammed Sidik Mia on Saturday came out clear endorsing UTM of Saulos Chilima and MCP of Dr Lazarus Chakwera.
The endorsement comes days after MCP National Executive Committee empowered Chakwera to go ahead with alliance talks with any political Party.
But most social commentators have been saying the MCP UTM alliance cannot materialise because Mia cannot allow to let out the runningmate position.
He said he has no problem with the alliance because UTM and MCP are fighting the common enemy.
He said there is power in unity.
“I believe that there is strength in unity. I have given my full blessings to the ongoing alliance talks for a grand opposition alliance. This is time to save and serve Malawi! In the impending fresh election, I am ready to sacrifice my running-mate position if that is what it will take to save our country.”
He said Malawi, is the dearest country, and is bigger than the sum of individual ambitions! Malawi first.
Mia was last seen at Msundwe when he joined President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera yesterday in saluting the citizens of Msundwe for their bravery and tenacity in the fight for electoral-justice.
He said Msundwe was the symbol for the struggle no wonder the rally was attended by a huge crowd of people, probably the like of which this country has never, ever seen before—a sea of people.
During the rally, he intimated that only Dr Lazarus Chakwera has the practical prospects, political capital and leadership to develop and unite country once he takes over as President this year.
He said people of Msundwe fought hard in a quest for electoral-justice and pledged to engage an extra-gear in complimenting efforts to ensure that Dr Chakwera ascends to the Presidency this year.
