Chakwera urges cabinet ministers to serve Malawi first

Malawi’s newly elected President, Prof. Lazarus Chakwera, has urged ministers to be appointed into his cabinet to selflessly serve the people of Malawi.
Prof. Chakwera says their performance will be assessed by the citizens hence to prove to them that their appointment is for a purpose.
He says his cabinet will not have more than 30 ministers saying 40% of them will be women representation, assuring Malawians that by 6th July, 2020, the inauguration day, the full cabinet list will be known by all Malawians.
Speaking after witnessing the taking of oath of office by two of the appointed ministers, Prof. Chakwera says the first appointments of cabinet ministers has been made in consultation with his Vice, Dr. Saulosi Klaus Chilima describing the ministerial positions as very critical inline with the transition from DPP led government to Tonse Alliance government.
Prof. Chakwera appointed five ministers with effect from the 29th day of June, 2020 to start working and two have taken an oath of office, Hon. Richard Chimwendo Banda MP and Hon. Felix Mlusu as Ministers of Homeland security and Finance respectively.
Hon. Modechai Msiska has been appointed Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs while Hon. Dr. Chikosa Silungwe is the Attorney General.
Prof. Chakwera has also appointed Mr. Zangazanga Chikhosi as Chief Secretary to the Government, Dr. Janet Banda sc as Deputy Chief Secretary to the Government while Mr. Prince Kapondamgaga is the Chief of Staff Residences.
However, the cabinet list is not far from that which is in circulation on the social media, calling on Malawians to give reactions so that the Cabinet is an inclusive regardless of regions or political parties.
According to the list in circulation, it is the wish of Tonse Alliance to recognize oneness in Malawi and those to be appointed will also include opposition DPP – UDF Alliance .
Chakwera – Chilima presidency assured Malawians during the campaign period that once voted into government, they will not rest but start working immediately and already in their day one of office, Acting Inspector General of Police, Dunkan Mwapasa booted out for Dr. George Kainja, Chief Secretary to the Government, Justice Lloyd Muhara has been sent to the Judiciary as High Court Judge with MRA offices sealed for auditing.
