The Centre For The Future( CFF) and its justice branch, Muvi wa Chilungamo, is demanding the entire Board of management of Lilongwe Water utilities( LWB) be fired or laid off to pave way for other people who can take care of people’s lives.
The CFF observes that the Board has demonstrated negligence following supplying contaminated water mixed with sewage water to the residents of Area 18A but, has not learnt any lesson from it.
The organization believes that appointing a new Board of management is the only way customers can get satisfaction that the Board is supplying them with good, quality and affordable water with improving quality than what the residents in Lilongwe city are getting now.
This contained in a video clip circulating on the social media by Saunders Jumah, the Utopian.
In the video clip, the CFF says Lilongwe being the capital city of Malawi keep business people and diplomats wondering what picture will be portrayed outside Malawi that people are drinking contaminated water.
…” Muvi wa Chilungamo demands the entire Board of management to be sacked for failing the residents to drink good and appetizing water other than this contaminated water which is not safe for drinking and can cause suspectable diseases”,… reads the statement in part.
But, in its statement released to its customers, the management of Lilongwe Water Board( LWB) acknowledged the unfortunate water adour, algae blooms (microscopic plants) problem that has been experienced in Lilongwe city over the past week.
The management said it is un earthly or muddy smell which has been observed, detected in the distribution and at customer’s taps.
The Board said it has emloyed immediate measures for removal of adour from the drinking water and the siltation is exected to imorove in the next couple of days assuring its valued customers that the adour currently being experienced in the water is not toxic, harmful to human or animal health in any way saying the water can be used normally without any fear, or getting sick or any resulting health problem.
