State President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has urged African Countries to focus on making Africa for Africans, saying Africa has clarity to choose what to do, make, follow or accept without foreign interferences to follow prescriptions of countries that preach to Africa what they themselves do not practice.
President Chakwera was speaking at Bingu International Convention Center on Wednesday morning, March 31,2021 during the launch of Brenthust Foundation “The Asian Aspiration” a book which has been written by some notable African leaders “Greg Mills, Olusegun Obasanjo, Hailemariam Desalegn and Emily Van Der Merwe.”
In his remarks president Lazarus Chakwera lamented that for decades African countries have been dictated on what to do by foreign powers and use it as a turf to fight their wars for precious minerals, saying time has come to accept only those who are true partners in development.
Further president Chakwera said his administration will ensure that the culture of engaging development partners in Isolation comes to an end and become a developed country that does all the basic things for itself. But the president came quickly to say for such a country to be built Malawi will depend on global partnership with counties that share its values and have respect for its vision.
Among other dignitaries attending the function were the former Nigerian President, His Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo, Former Prime Minister of Ethiopia, His Excellency Hailemariam Desalegn, Former President of Malawi, Her Excellency Dr. Joyce Banda and the Vice President of Malawi Dr. Saulos Chilima.
