As issues to do with 2019 elections continue, MEC commissioner has told the Public Appointment Committee of Parliament that many decisions were made by the MEC chair and just imposed on other commissioners

Speaking when answering questions before the PAC of Parliament, commissioner Bishop Nkosi said MEC erred in making many decisions including announcing of results before thoroughly investigating into the complaints from various stakeholders in the elections.

Bishop Nkosi also told the committee that she was so shocked to hear the MEC chair Justice Jean Ansah to have mentioned MESN to have agreed to the outcome of the results yet it was not supposed to be the stand of measuring the reflection of the elections.

Commissioner Nkosi revealed that at a certain point MEC commissioners walked out of the meeting room to avoid giving audience to the MCP officials who went to submit their complaints

Bishop Nkosi who torn apart the action of her commission told the committee that in her wisdom it was better to rush to the court to seek extension of days from 8 so that all complaints popularly know as madando were addressed than rushing to the court to lift injunction in order to announce final results of which she said weren’t the true reflection as had a lot of irregularities

Bishop Nkosi also revealed of an usual behaviour that her superior (Ansah) displayed at some occasions which gave her (Nkosi) some suspicions on what was happening

Taking her turn, Commissioner Ntafu was full of redundancy and contradictions as she tried to run away from the real facts perhaps to defend herself and some culprits within the commission, prompting anger in the PAC as was seen when the chair of the committee told her that the answers weren’t pleasing and lacked materiality as to the purpose of the inquiries and was sent out just after few minutes

From what the two commissioners presented before the Public Appointment Committee, it is clear that MEC carried out the elections with deliberate gross irregularities even worse than how Malawians do think and that all was done to put back Peter Mutharika and DPP in power
