GCK Dedza K1.6M trophy winds up
Members of parliament in Dedza district have been urged to work collaboratively in addressing challenges that youths in the district are facing.
Gerald Kampanikiza made the plea during the prize presentation ceremony of his 1.6 million Kwacha Gerald Kampanikiza League at Dedza stadium yesterday.
“Dedza district has eight Members of Parliament and if all of them can come together and support football standards in the district, am sure that we can raise standards of the game,” said Kampanikiza.
He however expressed concern that no official from the District Council (DC’s) office turned up for the ceremony.
“I am certainly disappointed that no official from the DC’s office came to support the boys. We gave them an invitation last Thursday but as you can see they haven’t shown up,” he wondered.
Kampanikiza has also revealed that he has raised the sponsorship to a tune of 2 million Malawi Kwacha in the forthcoming season.
Commenting on the development, Central Region Football Association treasure general Austin Ajawa said their body will assist in any challenges that the league is facing.
“As CRFA, we are very much grateful to what (Gerald) Kampanikiza is doing for the district. We know that a number of teams in the league are facing numerous challenges so as FAM, we want to assure the people of Dedza that we are ready to assist in any way possible,” said Ajawa.
