Government retaliates commitment on curbing tafficking in person

Government says it is committed in curbing Traficking in.person(TIP) in the Country.

Speaking when she opened a one day training and orientation o resource mobilization Sub-Commitee on the implementation of the resource mobilization strategy for Anti-Trafficking in Persons Fund Ministry of Homeland Security Under Secretary Ireen Malunga said the Ministry is confronting a time of incereased demands for services to the victims of TIP and meeting demands during a time when has limited resources.

“Government is committed to curb this vice thats why as one way of achieving that we have organised this training and orientation of resource. mobilization so that the sub committee nows how it can support the Ministry and the National Coordination Committee Against TIP in raising resources for the Anti-Trafficking in Persons funds” said Malunga.

She said the government has come up with various initiatives aimed at civic educating people on TIP.

“The thing is most Malawians dont understand what TIP means this in the end they end up being trafficked so as the Ministry we are also focusing on civic educating them about TIP”said she.

On her behalf a member of the sub committee Fawzia Osman said the committe has lined up a number of activities in order to raise funds which will be used to build a shelter for TIP victims which will be based in Lilongwe.

” Even though Government funds are avalible but they are not enough so we have organised a gara dinner which will be held on 20 Dec at Capital hotel where we are expecting to raise about 50Million Kwacha”said Osman.
