Homeland Security Minister pledges monitoring of security in Malawi

Minister of Homeland Security Honourabke Richard Chimwendo Banda has assured Parliament that his Ministry will continue monitoring the security situation in the country. The Minister was responding to questions from honourable members who also requested his ministry to construct police units in areas where there security lapses.

While informing the House that the security situation is positively improving in the country, the Minister also said that efforts are being made to ensure that police units are established in some areas where security has been a concern.

He reported that at least 17 hard core criminals who have been terrorising communities in Lilongwe have been since arrested and being kept in custody.
