Kalonga Gawa Undi appoints new Chewa Heritage Foundation Chair and others

His Majesty King of Chewa People in Malawi Zambia and Mozambique, Kalonga Gawa Undi, has appointed Dr Chakhumbira Stanley Khaila as a new chair of Malawi’s leading cultural grouping Chewa Heritage Foundation CHEFO).
Dr Khaila has replaced Professor Kanyama Phiri who is current Vice Chancellor of Luanar having served Chefo for fifteen years.
Dr Sefren Khumula is the new Vice Chair replacing Kenneth Mseka.
Khumula also served as Secretary general before his term expired.
Dr Gersom Numeri is new Chefo Secretary General replacing Richard Mdyetseni while Chilomba Franklin is his deputy.
Counsel Jimion Nyanda is Chefo Director of Legal Affairs which is new post in the chefo setup.
Pyson Likagwa commonly known as Zuma in sports fanatics is Director of administration.
The executive has women as well taking senior positions for gender inclusivity.
Humphrey Murry is the purse keeper for the the organization. Murry is the one who was taking care of funds in the previous administration.
Addressing the press Khaila said the first thing is to meet the entire executive where working priorities will be set.
He said his agenda is ensure that there is unity amongst the Chewa people.
On girls education Khaila said there is no excuse about that more programs will be needed to promote, protect a girl child.
He said His Majesty Kalonga Gawa Undi, is much committed in ensuring that girls are doing well on education.
On financial independence of the organization, Khaila said there is need for the organization to be financially independent.
Outgoing Chair Kanyama Phiri has since congratulated Khaila for the appointment.
Phiri said he will continue helping the new leadership whenever feels necessary to do so.
He said that during his tenure of office he might not have fulfilled all the engagements saying he hope the current regime will do.
