The Malawi Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists( MAMLS) has written a letter to the Office of the President and Cabinet ( OPC) protesting government’s decision over the appointment of Dr. Ndifanji Achangalira Melia Namacha to the position of Deputy Director of Health Technical Support Services ( HTSS).

MAMLS says it is vehemently protesting this appointment describing it as irregular and political saying the said appointed officer has no proven record of working in government institutions, let alone in Health Technical Support Services.

This is contained in a letter dated 19th June, 2020 signed by its Vice Chairperson, Confidence Banda with copies to its Chairperson, Victor Makwinja and Diagnosis Directorate in the Ministry of Health .

In the letter, MAMLS says it has learnt with a great shock and dismay of the appointment of the said officer as per information at their disposal.

The letter says it finds this appointment counterproductive as it is a mere political appeasement at the sacrifice of capable individuals who are directly under HTSS who could ably deliver at this position.

….” We demand the removal of the said Officer from the post in 3 days, as an urgent matter, and that should our demand go without being taken heed of, MAMLS shall instruct all Laboratory Technicians and Scientists to stay away from work in protest,”…reads the statement in part.

But writing on her Facebook page, Dr. Ndifanji Namacha while wishing herself a happy birthday at 27 years, thanks the Lord quoting the Book of Psalms 124…It is so real for me today. If it had not been the Lord on my side….where would I be….

Government has made another surprise appointment in the week of Commissioner of Police, Dr. Kainja to the Malawi High Commission Office in Harare, Zimbabwe to the position of Deputy High Commissioner.

Dr. Kainja from Ntchisi is earmarked for the appointment of Inspector General of Police replacing Acting IG Duncan Mwapasa, who Parliament rejected his name for being behind supporting cadets of the ruling DPP.
