Vice President of the opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP), Sidik Mia has described the party as the only political entity that is geared for genuine national unity with practical example of key positions equally split in the country’s three regions.

In his address during an interration and “thank you” celebration with over 800 zone leaders in Chikwawa Nkombezi Constituency, the MCP second in command said, MCP can be trusted as the true unifier of all tribes in the country by way of example, as the party’s president Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is from the central region and the Vice President, Mia himself, is from the Southern region while Speaker of the National Assembly, Catherine Gotani Hara is from the nothern region.

“What Malawians want is unity so that the country can be a better place for all of its people,” said Mia and continued: “Through unity we would like our people to enjoy their country.”

Mia also tackled the issue of hardships that Malawians are currently facing, with the prevalent hunger and food shoetage due to soaring price of staple food like maize topping the list.

“Ever since I was born, I have never seen basin of maize selling at K1,900,” he wondered with great surprize.

Calling for continued support during the forth coming fresh elections as was determined by the Concourt, Mia urged the people to support their own (Mia) by voting for Chakwera as President and Mia as Vice President respectively.

Echoing calls for unity and undivided support was MCP National Deputy Director of Research, Iryias Karim who is also Member of Parliament for Chikwawa South.

Karim who emphasized on the need for the country to unite strongly condemned the tendency of fake loyalty by some party followers and supporters that when is driven by greed, gives birth to political betrayal.

“Let’s love a person even when you don’t see him,” said Karim in a rather requesting tone for genuine loyalty.

In her speech, MP for the constituency, Abida Mia thanked the people for ushering her into parliament and likewise sought their increased support for the presidential vote during the fourth coming fresh elections.

Lawmaker Abida therefore uttered a litany of developmental projects, which she embarked on by using funds from her pocket

Lunch of rice and beef, plenty for everyone, with some refreshments found its way to the mouth and in so doing, marking the climax of the celebration.
