Vice President of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Muhammad Sidik Mia who is also Minister of Transport has on Sunday officially welcomed the Independent Member of Parliament (MP) for Balaka North, Anthony Ngalande with strong advice that he should bear in mind that he has joined a team of hard workers hence should be ready to work along such lines.
Speaking during the official welcoming ceremony at Balaka stadium, Mia verbally initiated Ngalande to live the “hard work” call as prescribed in the words of President Lazarus Chakwera, which he said during his inauguration and translate such words in developing the constituency that he represents in parliament and Malawi at large.
The MCP second in command took the opportunity to urge Malawians to strength unity and peaceful co-existence, with a strong emphasis on religious co-existence among Muslims and Christians.
Said Mia: “Do not give room to people who come to disturb peace through igniting conflict among Muslims and Christians in the name of religion for their own selfish political agendas because since time immemorial, Muslims and Christians have always remained one and united”.
Mia further said: “The country’s President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is the practical towering example of religious tolerance and promotion of diverse faiths and religions, who, being a Christian religious leader, had picked me, a Muslim, as his runningmate during 2019 elections and this is a strong testimony that the President has a solid will to promote different faiths and religions including Islam in this country.”
Mia, who commended the people that gathered for putting on masks and thier adherence to Covid-19 rules of keeping social distance said it was his prayer to God the Almighty to intervene and soften the yoke of the pandemic, so as to allow the servant leader Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and Tonse Alliance goverment to practically deliver the campaign promises in line with the alliance manifestos.
In his initiation speech, the new MCP catch legislator Anthony Ngalande said that his joining the MCP had followed a strong indication of visionary leadership of President Chakwera especially based on what the leader had been preaching ahead of the last presidential election.
Ngalande indicated that, him joining the MCP, means a lot of people that gave him victory with a wide margin in the last parliamentary election are also joining the party to render their support.
“Hard work is what I’m bringing into MCP with many of my supporters trailing behind me with added hard work that will see the party getting strong.”
The youthful parliamentarian shared some key problems on his priority list, among them: The reconstruction Balaka District Hospital that got damaged by fire and the upgrading of roads that need urgent attention.
Before the two key speakers, Moses Kumkuyu who is the MCP National Campaign Director reminded the people of Balaka including traditional leaders that the new President, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is the president for all Malawians and that to him they should render their support.
