By Our Reporter
Sheer hardwork and determination by the campaign team led by Deputy Minister of Lands Abida Mia work have yielded fruitful results for the Malawi Congress Party in as far as victory is concerned in Nsanje North and Nsanje South constituences in yesterday’s parlimenatary by-elections.
Through amazing collaboration of genuine political leadership with legislator for Chikwawa South, Elias Karim who is also Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Deputy Director of Reserach and MCP Deputy Secretary General Gerald Kazembe, the firebrand politician Abida Mia has proven that she is now the new political icon and the force to reckon with in the Shire Valley.
Against the odds of lame mental perception that Shire Valley is a Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) stronghold, Abida Mia and her energetic team have proven a point that the MCP rooster has entered the kraal interiors of the Shire Valley and of course the Southern Region to roost.
It was a tough campaign that took place shortly after the demise of the Shire Valley political giant, Mohammed Sidik Mia but Abida Mia rose above sorrow to fulfull what her late husband would have wanted to see: Victory for Enock Chizuzu in Nsanje North and Kafandikhale Mandevana in Nsanje Central.
Now, MCP is blessed to have on the block, the Queen of the Shire Valley, Abida Sidik Mia.
