Minister Bottoman calls for political parties to observe rule of law after Concourt ruling

As the country awaits the Presidential Elections Case ruling in the constitutional court, Government has asked all political parties in the country and other stakeholders to respect the rule of law and the Judiciary which is an independent arm of Government.

Minister of Information, Civic education and Communication Technology Mark Botomani made the call during Tiuzeni Zoona Programme on Zodiak Broadcasting Station.

Bottoman re-itterrated the need for stakeholders in the Constitutional electoral case to follow due process if not satisfied with the outcome of ConCourt case.

During the programme , Bottoman said in any case there is only one winner.

He said the good thing is that the case is appealable.

During the programme, Centre for Multiparty Democracy Executive Director Kizito Tenthani, agreed with Bottoman saying there is indeed a great need for Malawians to observe peace during and after the court verdict.

Bottoman said sobriety and patriotism are key ingredients to peace during this period saying there is only one Malawi and destruction of the country is counter productive.

Bottoman said Government is aware that this ruling will attract different reactions and as such, State Security Organs are well prepared to keep the peace that the country has safeguarded and enjoyed for many years.
