Minister Chimwendo Banda takes action on forestry guards

Seen a disturbing video clip where security officers guarding Champhira forestry reserve in Mzimba were forcing a woman to whip a fellow woman after being arrested for the offence of fetching firewood in the forest, Minister of Homeland Security, Hon. Richard Chimwendo Banda MP, has taken an action.
Writing from his official face book page, Hon. Chimwendo Banda has described the video clip as disgusting, promising that action will be taken with a warning that Government will not tolerate this.
Following instructions from above, it has been reported that the forestry guards and the Game Rangers from Kasungu National Park have been arrested by police officers from Kasungu .
The disturbing video clip brought silence and trauma among the viewers with some not believing that it is happening within Malawi where many people are followers of God and Malawi being a God –fearing nation,
The woman carrying a very big stick was seen whipping a fellow woman on her buttocks several times while lying on the ground despite the woman crying for a stop but this was not heard with the security guards continuing ordering the woman to whip the other side of the buttocks.
Media reports are indicating that the torture of women happened at Chimaliro forest reserve and those concerned forestry guards behind this torture of women are from Kasungu forestry office and Kasungu National Park.
The reports say about 14 forestry officers have been arrested by police following a disturbing video clip that went viral on Thursday.
Social media commentators have welcomed the urgent action taken by Minister Chimwendo Banda in ordering for the arrests of the perpetrators of this torture to women saying the video clip in Mzimba at Champhira has exposed many stories of human rights violations Malawian women and girls are going through while fetching firewood and traditional medicine in forestry reserved areas across the country.
According to his official face book page, Minister Chimwendo Banda has officially announced that police have arrested the Game Rangers who were encouraging the torture and whipping of women and the victims have been taken to hospital for treatment
