Minister of Lands Housing and Urban Development Symon Vuwa Kaunda is working hard to ensure sanity is back in the Ministry.

The Minister has been in Zomba inspecting Malata and Cement Subsidy program houses.
Kaunda while in Zomba also visited security agencies: prison and Changalaume Barracks where the Ministry intends to construct some Houses.
Speaking in all the areas visited Kaunda appealed to all officials to avoid abuse of construction materials.
“Take this as your project and dont abuse whatever will be used here,” He said.
Kaunda intends to bring discipline in the Ministry.
It came a time when any one could just work up and start building a structure willy nilly.
One could just work up start piling bricks and erecting fence.
This has been the case at Bwaira Hospital reserve land Lilongwe Depot just to mention afew.
However following the appointment of Vuwa Kaunda as Minister of Land the situation has been completely different.
He started warning lands officers by holding regional meetings in all three regions.
In all the meetings he stressed that he will not defend anyone found in wrong side of the law.
And sonce then the Minister and Principal Secretary Joseph Mwandidya have proved doubting Thomas Didmus wrong by working 24 hours. Just early this week the Minister and his PS have been visiting areas which were demolished by the authorities after being found to be illegal.
The Minister visited area 44, apposite cross roads and behind K 99 shop land that was encroached behind K99 shop.
