The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) in the Lower Shire continues to register political exodus into its fold with the latest being over 200 committee leaders from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) who joined on Tuesday.

The MCP, through its national campaign directorate received the flocking newcomers during colourful ceremonies in Chikwawa West and Nsanje South West.

Talking to reporters after receiving the crowds, MCP National Campaign Director, Moses Kumkuyu said, amazing as it was to visualize members abandoning the ruling party for the one in opposition, he advised them to always realize that unlike DPP, the party they have chosen, MCP, is an entity of love and peace with its leadership guided by the principals Super 5.

Kumkuyu expounded that: “Nepotism, corruption and violence as it has been the charecteristic of their stay in their previous political domain shall never be the case in the interiors of fairness and peace-loving MCP.

Before clothing them with MCP colours, Kumkuyu therefore welcomed them and thanked them for making a good choice.

According to the new members, poor leadership and lack of vision among leaders are what has prompted them to ditch the DPP for MCP.

A couple of weeks ago, the first group of over 100 people who were DPP committee members had joined MCP at Nchalo in Chikwawa Central Constituency.

The latest colourful ceremony at Chapananga and Nsanje Boma was also attended by the MCP Regional Charman for South, Peter Simbi together with other NEC members.
