Mutharika launches 2019/2020 National Forestry Season in style

All roads read to Mkando trading center on Wednesday ( yesterday) the 18th December 2019 as the First Citizen launched the 2019 / 2020 Nation Forestry Season with a call for Malawi to conserve environment by planting more trees and looking after them.

Speaking at Mkando in Mulanje district , Malawi ‘s President Prof Arthur Peter Mutharika stressed the importance of forests as source of air , economic advantages and resilience against climate shocks .

President Mutharika said Malawi has experienced serious negative impacts of Climate Change due to loss of Forrest cover.

Taking his turn , Minister of Natural Resources Energy and Mining Binton Kutsaira commended the State President for his commitment and passion in conserving the environment.

Further , Kutsaira said his Ministry through the department of Forestry is working strategically with the Youth , Private Sector and Non Governmental organisations in restoring Forests.
