Rhema Institute for Development on Monday commissioned one borehole at Makanga Village in the area of Traditional Authority Khongoni in Lilongwe.

Speaking during the completion of borehole drilling work, installation of all pipes and all other required activities, Executive director for RHEMA, Innocent Semu highlighted that his organization, after getting news that Makanga people have never enjoyed borehole water since the creation of this world, his organization decides to come to the rescue by providing a MWK4 million borehole that will change people’s life in this area.

“We are very sure that this borehole will go a long way in solving water challenges people have been facing in this area and we promise to continue engaging people in this area in different activities of Agriculture, social economic and WASH programs as these will help much in making our beneficiaries prosper together as the president always say.” Semu said.

Village headman Makanga applauded RHEMA for the borehole saying his subjects will be able to recycle the water from this borehole by engaging themselves into banana irrigation farming on top of drinking safe water.

“You can’t believe that my subjects were only testing clean water from boreholes after going in our neighboring villages during funerals and other activities, something that was making us think we are not Malawians too and what RHEMA has done to us, it is something we are glad of.” Village Chief Makanga narrated.
Gideon Maseche, Ward Councillor for Nyang’amila Ward of Lilongwe North West constituency spoke on the fulfillment of a promise RHEMA Institute for Development made to people of Makanga village in Traditional Authority Khongoni where RHEMA has drilled a borehole there.

“I did not believe that a promise which was made only a month ago can be honoured now, I am speechless and I can not believe that in this world, there are such NGOs which walk their talk” Said Makanga.

Rhema has timely brought water after living as wild animals since the birth of this world, people from Makanga area have been drinking unsafe water from untreated well dug in the nearby river almost two kilometers from this village, and to them, seeing clean water coming out from a treated borehole planted in their village, it is like being taken to paradise where there is no injustice in the provision of socio services.

He said RHEMA Executive Director is really a God fearing person who lives by his promises and I plead with other stakeholders to help us again as we have many area like Mtauka, Chola and other areas where people are still drinking from untreated water sources.” Maseche added.

RHEMA launched its activities in Malembo are a month ago where it distributed seeds for irrigation farming which have already started benefiting many farmers there and on the launch day, people were promised that soon, RHEMA will kick start the drilling of boreholes that can be used for both drinking and irrigation farming purposes.
