Social media is heckling former President Peter Mutharika for chosing to attend wedding of his son Tadikila disregarding funeral of Former Vice President Dr Justin Chimera Malewezi.
No reasons have been given yet regarding his failure to attend the funeral.
This vindicate what people have been saying that Mutharika has stayed longer in foreign land and that he has nothing to do with culture.
The body of the country’s first Vice President, Rt. Honorable Dr. Justin Chimera Malewezi, was laid to rest today at his residence in Likuni – Lilongwe with full military honors as directed by President Lazarus Chakwera.
Malewezi who served Dr. Bakili Muluzi as his Vice President, from 1994 to 2004 in the first multiparty government, and who later became an independent Member of Parliament in Nthisi, passed away on Saturday, April 17,2021.
Speaking at the funeral ceremony held at Likuni Boys Secondary School ground in Lilongwe, His Excellency the State President of Malawi, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera expressed his shock on the demise of late Malewezi, saying as a nation Malawi has lost one of its finest administrators and political statesmen.
Chakwera added that late Malewezi had been instrumental to him in offering good advice and that he was man full of wisdom and integrity who always encouraged hard working, unity and peace among the citizenry.
President Chakwera described late Malewezi as a true servant leader who served cultural, religious and political groupings with passion and dedication, and displayed love for his country regardless of any affiliation.
Delivering a eulogy on behalf of the Chewa King of Kings, for Zambia, Mozambique and Malawi, Chilombo Kalonga Gawa Undi, Mr. Lucas Phiri said late Malewezi spearheaded the birth of the Chewa Heritage Foundation after being commissioned by Gawa Undi himself and proceeded to lead the organization for 8 years before handing it over to new leadership.
Phiri added that late Malewezi’s personal sacrifice for the good of the Chewa people is highly commendable and that the vacuum he has left will be difficult to fill.
Further Kalonga Gawa Undi in his message described late Malewezi as a humble man who committed himself to the service of mankind.
