Simphasi community hailed for promoting police mandate

Mchinji, June 10, Mana: Mchinji Police Station Officer, Charles Mpezeni has commended communities of Chiosya in Mchinji for constructing a Police unit at the trading centre in Traditional Authority (TA) Simphasi in the district.
He made the remarks on Thursday when he visited the construction work which was still under way.
Mpezeni said that the Police officers are ready to serve the community and called for good relationship for the police to work effectively.
“The community should utilize the Police officers to the maximum and that the Police offices are always open and very ready to accommodate constructive criticisms,” he added.
Mpezeni pleaded with TA Simphasi and the community that they should work together in harmony and find a viable solution to any misunderstandings between the community and the Police other than destroy and set ablaze police buildings as a remedy to misunderstandings.
TA Simphasi assured the Mchinji Police Station Officer Mpezeni of his total support regarding the promotion of police activities in the district.
Simphasi Village Development Committee Chairperson, James Mbewe who is the chairperson of the committee overseeing the project expressed delight that the project was going as planned.
He said that community development was always complemented by law enforcers because as the community develops, a lot of law breaking activities happen.
The construction of the Police unit is said to have been the priority of the community for a long time as it was seen as a way to reduce crime, distance to get help in case of accidents and other cases, and enhance protection to the people and public institutions like health centre, community schools and agriculture offices.
