SRWB donates hand washing materials to Nsanje District Hospital

Southern Region Water Board has donated COVID-19 hand washing materials to Nsanje district hospital as their cooperative social responsibilities to their customers.
SRWB board of directors Mrs Florence Mataya says as a company they thought it wise to respond to coronavirus by giving out preventive materials as a way of containing the pandemic among Malawians.
Florence Mataya made the sentiments on Wes day 3, after donated assorted items like liquid soaps, tapped baskets and sanitizer oils Nsanje district hospital.
Southern Region Water Board has embarked on distributing hand washing materials for COVID 19 in all major southern region hospitals except Blantyre City worthy 6.5 Million Kwacha.
She said as organisation thought it necessary to join government in the fighting against the spread of the Pandemic by support district hospital with materials that can be used when carrying out their operations since there are a lot of people who needs to be assisted at their facilities, therefore they should be protected from the diseases.
“We are into business of supplying water to customers and we depend on our customers to come and buy our commodities, therefore as part of cooperate social responsibilities thought it wise to come back and give back some of the things which our customers are giving back in form of businesses. We all know that COVID 19 is real and is here to stay, as a company we have also been affected with the pandemic but we are getting precaution measures to make sure that this pandemic doesn’t get worse so thus why we are taking some initiatives to make sure that some mitigative factors are inplace in order to prevent further spread of the disease,’’ He explained.
She further said that the materials will assist the facilities in promoting hygiene and sanitation so that clients do not contract the virus from their partners.
Speaking after receiving the donation Dr Alphonsina Ndembera Nsanje district Medical Officer commended the organisation for their rescue since they were in dire need of preventive materials for Coronavirus and this will help to ensure that they have remarkable hand hygiene in all the facilities.
“It’s true that We have positive case within the district and we anticipate more as time goes as you can already see from the nation figures that are going up day by day and we anticipate that our district may not spare by the end of the period. Therefore, we established centre for trench where we are having all patients with the symptoms or clients coming to the hospital with symptoms that could be considered as COVID 19 are supposed to undergo screening in that infrastructures.
Apart from that we have trained our health care workers on how they can protect themselves even other patients and clients as they are assisting in the provision of health care services,’’ she said.
However, she says that Nsanje district hospital needs to be assisted with hand washing materials in order to contain the disease in the district since there are a lot of people that are coming in the district from bordering countries that are hot spot of COVID 19.
So far Nsanje district hospital has recorded one active case of COVID 19 who actually returned from South Africa after South Africa government announced that immigrants should return to their respective countries.
