Unicaf University Partners with African Women in Business (WIB) to Provide Guaranteed Scholarships
By Malawi Exclusive
Unicaf University and African Women in Business have signed a partnership agreement to support women entrepreneurs, promote diversity and equality, and increase access to quality higher education. African WIB members have access to generous Unicaf Scholarships for all Bachelor, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees and can take advantage of Unicaf professional development short courses designed to boost their expertise.
The partnership aims to promote greater female participation in the economic, social, and political spheres worldwide. WIB members can earn internationally recognised degrees and become skilled professionals or entrepreneurs in the global market.
During the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor of Unicaf University in Malawi, Dr Robert Ridley, stated that “Unicaf University is well placed to support entrepreneurs to engage in further study through our online technology platform”. Unicaf University offers a wide range of higher education degrees and professional development short courses covering business and technology-associated topics ideal for entrepreneurs.
The president of African WIB, Shiphra Chisha, said that “access to quality education is the key to unlocking the potential of millions of African women”. She also stated that the global pandemic exposed the continent’s severe skills gap, arguing that few people have the right skills and knowledge to fill the available slots. The skill shortage problem shows the importance of the partnership in terms of the opportunities it can provide for professional growth and employment to all women in Africa.
Shiphra Chisha added that “this unique partnership with Unicaf becomes the springboard through which African women will leap to fulfil their potential by acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge such that they can confidently and competently start and grow business ventures, secure well-paying jobs, or climb the corporate ladder”.
Unicaf University is a pan-African, independent, accredited university that combines the best elements of international education and offers high-quality academic qualifications. The University pursues excellence in teaching and student achievement while ensuring a high degree of satisfaction in a dynamic online environment.
African Women in Business was founded in 2019, and it represents the interests of all women entrepreneurs across all industries and with chapters across 10 SADC nations. The vision is to strengthen the wealth-creating capacity of our members and promote economic development within the entrepreneurial community.
The partnership brings together two respected organisations in a joint effort to promote greater female participation in all spheres of society and increase access to quality higher education for women in Africa.
