WRASM meets Dowa CSOs on membership Alliance

The White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood Malawi [WRASM –Malawi] will implement a campaign to reignite the passion that various players in the field of safe motherhood to come together to fulfill a joint vision for a Malawi where all girls and women realize their right to quality health and well –being.
WRASM –Malawi is a national Civil Society umbrella organization, affiliated to WRA Global, working to reduce maternal and newborn mortality and unpreventable deaths through advocacy by leveraging social accountability approaches.
The organization campaigns for adequate resources and supportive policy environment to prevent needless deaths of women and newborn babies..
The WRASM was in Dowa district meeting CSOs implementing projects in the health sector briefing them on the membership for the Alliance as it works hard to hold the duty bearers in the country accountable against their commitments of action to improve maternal and newborn survival.
Speaking during a –one day meeting for CSOs held at Mponela in Dowa district, WRASM -Malawi Executive Director, Hester Mkwinda Nyasulu, said the organization was meeting CSOs to encourage them work together to reduce maternal death in the country, specifically for Dowa district.
Nyasulu said CSOs after joining the Alliance will become members of White Ribbon Alliance [WRA] where they will always be having a collective voice to advocate for women and girls in issues of reproductive health.
He said the CSOs will collectively join the national movement that they push together the agenda of women and girls issues in of reproductive health and to ensure that Government act accordingly.
The Director said the campaign for membership will start with five districts in Malawi; Chitipa, Ntchisi, Zomba, Mangochi and Dowa and thereafter, it will be rolled to all districts across the country.
…….’’International NGOs will be paying annual membership fee of K20,000, national NGOs K10,000, District based NGOs K10,000 and individuals K5,000 deposited into National Bank of Malawi, Account name; White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood, Account number 001005449959, Capital City branch. For organizations, they are required to provide their certificate with NGO Board, CONGOMA and bank deposit slip for the membership application fee,’’…..said Nyasulu.
Nyasulu said WRASM attempts to utilize the strength of its members and in turn raise the profile and capacity of these organizations in safe motherhood advocacy and programming and support in lesson sharing and networking and in joint fundraising initiatives.
A member of Dowa CSO Network, George Kaunda, assured WRASM that they will share the message to reach -out to all and if they have questions, they will be referred to the organization for clarifications, saying it will be good for all their voices to be heard as one with one common core load.
